About Cassel Box & Lumber

Cassel Box & Lumber Company, Inc., was a four-generation family owned and operated business, and was one of Wisconsin’s oldest wood container manufacturers. Founded in 1915 by Anthony Cassel, the family business was handed down through the generations with a pride of service unmatched in the industry.

In 2021, Anthony's great-granddaughter Kelly Cassel, took over the business when her father passed away. Kelly began her career at Cassel Box & Lumber the summer before starting high school. She worked part-time from 2009-2017 while in high school and college, followed by nearly 3 years as a full-time employee.

Kelly continued to manage the business up until it experienced a post-pandemic staffing shortage which lead her to make the difficult decision to close the company.

Rick Wilson, the President of Pukall Lumber Company knew of Cassel Box & Lumber since they were a long-time customer that purchased lumber for their business. When Rick heard of their closing, he arranged to purchase their equipment and offered Kelly the opportunity to continue the Cassell Box legacy at Pukall Lumber.

Today, Kelly Cassell is an integral part of the Pukall Lumber team building perfect boxes and crates. Her extensive experience in innovative container manufacturing has lead to the rapid growth of the Crating Department at the Arbor Vitae location.
