Pukall Lumber has been assisting building contractors and homeowners with their building and remodeling projects since Fred Pukall first brought a portable sawmill to the Lakeland area in 1937.
Our Vision is to be a market-leading organization for the benefit of our customers, our employees and our community.
Our Mission is to be the preferred lumber and building materials supplier in the Northwoods by understanding our customers’ needs, exceeding their expectations, and gaining their trust by providing exceptional value-added products and services.
Our sawmill turns out around 12 million board feet of lumber annually. Our logs are sourced mainly from northern Wisconsin’s extensive private, state and federal forests, from woodlands that are marked for selective harvesting and timber stand improvement. This means that we are able to practice complete quality control, from the selection of the logs to drying and planing of the lumber to manufacture of specialty items. About 40% of our lumber is sold locally through our retail operations, with the rest going to wholesale customers, mainly in the Great Lakes region but often as far afield as Texas.
Pukall Lumber is one of the largest employers in the area, providing about 100 jobs between our manufacturing operations and our four retail locations.
